The Perks of Working Remotely
by Andreea Oproiu • over 4 years ago • 5 min read
This year has come with many changes in the workplace and one of them being the global adoption of remote work. Before this was the only solution for some of the companies to keep going, many leaders were somehow reserved about this type of collaboration, due to lack of trust in their employees or simply not believing in productiveness in any other place than the workplace.
Now, when the future came earlier than expected, and most of the desk-working globe has shifted their desk at their homeplace, it seems like telecommuting is here to stay. With all these collaborative tools and technologies continuously developing and upgrading our work-from-home experience, it has never been easier to stay in touch and in sync with your team. A fun fact is that almost everyone, and that means 99% of the remote workers , want to continue telecommuting in the future, even if everything “can go back to normal” at some point.
Remote work at Sensidev
At Sensidev, part of our company culture is based on working with autonomous and self-reliant professionals that can do their work from everywhere. Therefore, we have adopted this working style before i̶t̶ ̶w̶a̶s̶ ̶c̶o̶o̶l̶ we had to experience all the changes that came with 2020.
Our team is made of young professionals, with different and colourful personalities, which also results in different hours of productiveness or willingness to put their best efforts into work.
We wanted to check with our team to see how remote work impacts them and what aspects of it benefits them the most or what they would change and this is what we found out:
- The entire team feels most productive at home
- The ideal format is to have a headquarter where we can meet from time to time to brainstorm or simply hang out and have quality time together.
- Everybody enjoys the freedom of organizing their work-space as they please and make their own programme. Some feel pressured when they have to be productive in an exact 8-hour time frame, while others just prefer to do their work undisturbed.
How do managers deal with remote work?
Besides saving the time for commuting, the ability to work from anywhere and anytime, remote work comes with other perks for managers, too. At Sensidev, we keep a global mindset and we are thrilled to work with companies from all over the world, an aspect that always challenges us and teaches us new perspectives. This goes the same for the team we can work with.
Remote work enables us to work with professionals from anywhere, having access to a bigger pool of talents. Also, as we’re not big fans of micro-management, this style of work is one that attracts self-organized members and therefore, we can assemble an Agile team.
