All tech and fun, with a touch of business at Techsylvania 2024

The recent Techsylvania conference brought together industry leaders and innovators from across Eastern Europe. Of course, we couldn’t miss a tech & business hot spot right in our country, Romania, so a part of the Sensidev team went for a deep dive into the heart of Transylvania. It was a whirlwind of inspiring talks, rekindled connections, and a glimpse into the future of tech.
Techsylvania wasn't just about the latest gadgets and software releases. It was a place to reconnect with old friends and colleagues. Lucian Corduneanu, our Co-Founder, for instance, was thrilled to finally meet in person some of the remote colleagues he'd been working with for months. The conference halls pulsed with a positive energy, fueled by engaging speakers and the shared passion for tech innovation.
While there, the team picked up on some major trends. AI, unsurprisingly, was a hot topic. We were particularly interested in how AI tools like Large Language Models (LLMs) revolutionize software development. These AI assistants can automate repetitive tasks and even generate code, freeing engineers to focus on the creative and strategic aspects of their work – we can’t wait to see what this future of dev work will look like and are eager to adopt them.
But AI wasn’t the only topic that fascinated us. Here are some important takeaways that our Sensidev team got from Techsylvania:
🚀 Building high-performing teams: Ionut Movila found the talk by Arnaud Collery, CEO of Humanava, particularly insightful. His focus on integrating technology to enhance employee well-being resonated very much with him, considering Sensidev's fully remote workforce.
🌐 Global tech trends: Key trends like AI advancements, venture capital focus, and global tech expansion were some of the major themes at the conference, as reported by our #sensidevs.
🪖NATO's embrace of innovation: NATO's shift towards collaboration with private companies and VCs to access cutting-edge technology for defense purposes was an interesting perspective to discover. Notably, NATO offers private VC funds exclusively for innovation across all member countries, not just limited to the USA, UK, or Germany. A testament to NATO's commitment to fostering innovation across its alliance.
🤝Events like Techsylvania bring in valuable connections: While Ionut found limited opportunities for immediate client acquisition, the conference facilitated valuable connections with industry professionals and potential future collaborators.
Lucian echoed this sentiment, highlighting the importance of building long-term relationships: “In-person human connection is underrated. We’d like more of it, facilitating people to meet, socialize and form friendships. This is for sure how to fight disconnect in remote-only engineer teams.”
✍️ Applying these learnings at Sensidev: All of our attending colleagues see significant potential to apply their Techsylvania learnings at Sensidev. They emphasize equipping engineers with AI tools to boost efficiency or focus on leveraging technology to enhance employee well-being in our remote team.
Techsylvania fostering innovation
Conferences like Techsylvania are a breeding ground for innovation. By connecting with passionate startups and understanding the challenges they face, Sensidev can stay ahead of the curve and refine our approach to custom software development. Overall, Techsylvania 2024 was more than just a conference – it was a breath of fresh air in the world of tech and business. We return not just with a renewed sense of purpose but also with the knowledge and connections needed to thrive in the ever-evolving tech landscape.
